Just as my sister, who has a passion for anything medical, loves greys anatomy, I can’t hide my interest too in some firefighter movies. There are many firefighter movies I have seen, and I will share with you some of the best firefighting movies that you should consider.
There are some firefighting movies you should see if you love firefighting job or profession. Some of them include only the brave, the towering inferno, brave are the fallen, ladder 49, burn, 9/11, fireproof, the guys, firestorm, hellfighters, backdraft, the tower, and playing with fire.
Best firefighting movies
Below are some of the firefighting movies that you need to watch if you have a passion for the firefighter profession.
1. Only the brave
This movie stars Josh Brolin as a firefighter who returns home after being away from his family for a long time. He gets assigned to work in a small town that doesn’t have enough money or manpower to hire its own firefighters, so he takes it upon himself to help save lives and prevent property damage by using his skills as an experienced professional.
While this film does include some romantic moments between Brolin and co-star Miles Teller, it’s really about the challenges that firefighters face every day on the job and how they do their jobs with courage and determination, even when things get tough.
2. The towering inferno
The fire-fighting film that brought us the immortal line “Good evening, ladies and gentlemen” is a classic. The story focuses on two firefighters who are dispatched to fight an enormous blaze in a high-rise building.
They must overcome their differences and work together as they try to contain the flames, but not before they’re forced to face their own personal demons.
This movie is packed with incredible moments, including the scene where one firefighter is forced to jump from a window onto a fire escape and then falls into the arms of a young boy who happens to be passing by below (you’ll have to watch it for yourself).
9/11 is a movie about a group of firefighters who are called to the World Trade Center on September 11th. The movie is set in New York City and shows how they respond to the attack.
The main characters include Nick Andriopoulos, Lance Farber, Jim Kennard, Chuck Johnson, Frank Kevin, and others. They respond to the call while they are trying to save lives and prevent more deaths from happening.
Burn is a movie that you have to watch at least once. It’s not just another “fire” movie because it focuses on the characters and their lives before the fire. In fact, it’s something like a Greek tragedy: there are themes of revenge and abandonment and forgiveness, but also love and family.
The main character is a man named Frank, and he has been in prison for ten years for killing his wife. He gets out of prison to find that his ex-wife has remarried, and their son has died in a car accident. This causes him to spiral into depression and become obsessed with revenge against her new husband.
The movie goes through a lot of twists and turns as Frank’s life becomes more complicated with each murder he commits until he finally confronts his ex-wife after she tries to murder him by burning down her house. The last scene shows him realizing that he does care about his family even though they rejected him all these years ago; it’s something you don’t see very often in films like this one.
5. Brave are the fallen
Brave are the fallen movie is one of the best firefighting movies ever. It is a true story about how two firefighters saved thousands of lives in New York City during Hurricane Sandy.
The firemen were not able to save their own homes from burning down, but they did all they could to save other people’s homes, schools, and even churches from being destroyed by the hurricane.
The movie was directed by Brenda Chapman, who also directed The Longest Ride and Pitch Perfect 2. The movie stars Dwayne Johnson and Liam Hemsworth as the main characters of this film; it also features Catherine Keener, Emma Thompson, Ashley Judd, and Taylor Swift in supporting roles.
6. Ladder 49
LADDER 49 is an incredible movie that’s full of great messages. It’s about a group of firefighters who get stuck on the roof of a burning building and how together, they make up for the lack of equipment.
The movie is based on the real-life story of nine firefighters from Ladder Company 49, who were trapped in a fire in Brooklyn after their ladder was knocked over by another firefighter. They were able to make it out safely by using ladders from nearby buildings.
Backdraft is the quintessential firefighting movie. The original film was released in 1991, and it still holds up today. It’s a classic because it has all the elements of a great film: great characters, a solid story, and plenty of action.
The story follows firefighters who are forced to battle a blaze at a chemical plant. But when they try to get out, they find that there’s more than just flames waiting for them on the other side.
8. The tower
This is the best firefighting movie because it is fun, exciting, and teaches you how to be a firefighter. You will learn important things like how to use a hose, knock down an external fire, and how put out a deadly inferno.
You will also see some cool firefighting scenes, such as putting out a fire in a building that has been engulfed by flames. The actors in this movie are really good because they show how hard it is to be a firefighter and the dangers that they face when they are on duty.

Hellfighters is a movie that’s all about firefighting, and it’s a great one to watch if you’re interested in the history of the job. The main characters are two men who were firefighters in their past lives. One was a cop, and one was a driver, but they both ended up becoming firefighters after an accident.
This movie takes place during World War I, and it shows how hard it was for people to get into the field when there were so few trained professionals. The film also shows how many people died while fighting fires during the war years.
The movie ends with a couple of scenes showing what life was like for these men after they left their jobs as firefighters; one scene shows them coming home from war-time duty, where they were surrounded by dead bodies and heavy smoke; another scene shows them back at their jobs as civilians again, but this time without any equipment or training whatsoever.
Fireproof is a great movie about a young woman who is married to a firefighter. She ends up getting pregnant, and her husband and his best friend are both out of the picture. She realizes that she needs to take care of herself, so she starts dating a younger man. Her husband becomes jealous and wants revenge on them.
This was one of my favorite movies growing up because I could relate to what the main character was going through. I love how it shows how important it is to stick together in tough situations and how it’s not always easy to find someone you can trust with your life, but when you do find them, they’re worth fighting for!
Firestorm is a movie that features an all-star cast, including Martin Sheen, James Belushi, and Tim Robbins. The film follows the story of a group of firefighters who are trapped in a burning building and must fight their way out.
The film was released in 1985 and received critical acclaim from critics. It was nominated for Best Picture at the 1986 Academy Awards but lost to Rain Man. Firestorm also won Best Original Screenplay at the 1986 Golden Globes for Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson.
The film’s plot does not end with the main characters escaping the burning building; instead, it continues into another storyline where another group of firefighters must deal with another fire in their community.
12. Playing with fire
Playing with fire is one of the best firefighting movies. It’s a great movie because it shows how firefighters do their job. The movie also shows how they deal with the loss of someone who died in the line of duty.
The movie also shows firefighters working in a city that has been destroyed by fire. They have to rebuild it from scratch, which is a hard job in itself.
13. The Burning Season (1984)
This film was about the first firefighters in New York City to respond to the WTC on September 11th, 2001. It follows them as they go into the burning towers and try to rescue people trapped inside. It’s a heartbreaking story that shows how much these men risked their own lives to save others, and it’s a great movie for anyone who loves firefighters.
